Eat Your Yogurt and Protect Your Health

Eat Your Yogurt and Protect Your Health

You’ve always known vaguely that, yes, yogurt is good for you.  You’ve always known this although you don’t actually know why.

Yogurt has always been with men for as long as you can imagine. Yogurt is actually soured milk, and milk has been always soured by men in order to preserve and prolong its life.

Yogurt is actually what people use to make soft or hard cheese in the early days. Yogurt is created by curdling fresh milk with bacteria.  It contains a lot of nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin D, and 22 amino acids.  Yogurt is easily absorbed by the body even by individuals who are lactose intolerant.

Benefits of Yogurt

Daily intake of yogurt has a lot of benefits.  These include:

1.         Promotion of digestive health.  The bacteria found in yogurt reduce microbes found in the body’s intestines.  The stomach’s flora is also repopulated.  It also promotes PH balance in the stomach; thus, you would be able to digest and absorb nutrients faster.  It protects the stomach from harmful toxins by coating the lining surfaces, so it prevents ulcerations and the risk of life-threatening diseases like bowel cancer.

2.         Reduction of cholesterol.  It is believed that 2 quarts of yogurt could significantly reduce the amount of cholesterol in the body.

3.         Supply the body with a lot of nutrients.  This includes vitamins, calcium, and protein.

4.         Boosts the body’s immune system.  It increases the body’s ability to fight off cell killers like pathogens and toxins.  Allergies are even considerably lessened with regular yogurt intake.

Pointers to Proper Yogurt Storage and Use

You could always try to create your own yogurt.  It is relatively easy.  However, if you don’t have the time to create your own yogurt supply, here are some things that you have to consider when buying or eating yogurt.

1.         Take note of the label on the container.  Make sure that the live bacteria found in the product are actually written in the container.  Do not buy a product which merely states that it has bacteria in it without actually specifying what bacteria are found in it.

2.         These days, to attract more customers, yogurt products that are being sold in the market have sugar or fruit added.  Make sure that you buy only pure yogurt with nothing else in it.

3.         If you can’t tolerate the taste of yogurt, you could eat a fruit or honey with it.  However, you should add in the fruit after the yogurt has completed its fermentation process.

4.         Check the expiry date.  This is important because you must buy the yogurt at least seven days before its expiry date.

5.         Store your yogurt well.  To keep the bacteria in the yogurt alive, it must be kept in a cold place.
